IGLESIA BAUTISTA HISPANA DE LEBANON

www.IglesiaLebanon.Homestead.com

In 2007, we have had over 400 meetings.  These meetings included Sunday School, Sunday morning worship, prayer meetings, Bible studies, home visitation meetings and a wedding.  Sunday School averages 30 and worship services average 50. We are also having cell group studies on Tuesday nights.  During this year, there were 24 baptisms and 63 people led to Christ.

In March, our attendance grew to the point that we had to start having Sunday services in the sanctuary of Southside Baptist Church in Lebanon.  Our Sunday School services are held at 2:00 PM and worship services at 3:00 PM.

On December 25, we had a wonderful Christmas party for our mission at First Baptist Church Lebanon.  This party included a Hispanic children’s nativity play, a sermon by Pastor Jorge Vasconcelos, a wonderful dinner and gifts for all the children.  There were almost 400 in attendance.  Following Pastor Jorge’s sermon, we had 21 people saved.  We want to thank First Baptist Lebanon and Hillcrest Baptist for helping with this service, and for the 184 presents we gave away to the children.

On December 31, we had a special New Year’s service.  At this service, we had 11 people come forward to commit to help with our mission work in the coming year.  Please continue to pray for this mission during 2008.

IGLESIA HISPANA DE CARTHAGE

www.IglesiaCarthage.Homestead.com

In the spring of 2007, Iglesia Bautista Hispana de Lebanon extended a mission arm into Carthage.  The Carthage mission was established by the New Salem Baptist Association on Carthage Highway.  The mission has been named Iglesia Hispana de Carthage and meets on Friday nights.

There are around 12 people regularly attending each service and we have already had 3 people saved at mission services and 1 person baptized.  Zander Dell Raines is leading city visitations for this mission on the third Saturday of each month.  He has also built a website for the new mission at the website address above.  In December, we relocated this mission work into First Baptist Church Carthage in the downtown Carthage area.

We are in need of funds to help expand this mission work.  We are especially looking for a used computer for Missionary Tomas Solano to use in his home. Any help that can be given in this area would be deeply appreciated.

HISPANIC TRACT OUTREACH

www.ChristianWatchman.Homestead.com

In the spring of 2007, Zander Dell Raines began a tract distribution campaign to local businesses for the purpose of promoting our Hispanic missions.  In Lebanon, we are leaving tracts monthly at La Loma Mexican Grill, Jalisco Mexican Restaurant, Los Compadres Restaurant, Richardo’s Restaurant, and Leon De Juda 2 Market.  In Carthage, we are working monthly with El Rey Mexican Restaurant, Latapatia Hispanic Store, Main Street Laundramat, Jefferson Street Laundramat, Advance Auto Parts, Bestway, and Wishy Washy Laundramat.  During this past year, we have given out over 3,000 gospel tracts.  Please keep us in your prayers as we continue this new outreach to the Hispanic community in our area.

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE CLASSES

www.LebanonESL.Homestead.com

John Duncan and Maria Conejo have taught over 30 E.S.L. classes at First Baptist Church of Lebanon this year. These classes take place each Monday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  After each class is over, Pastor Jorge Vasconcelos teaches a Bible study.  There are currently 9 people taking these classes.  On February 19, Connexion Americas held a tax seminar during these classes emphasizing the importance of being properly registered with the government and paying your taxes.

HISPANIC HELP CENTER

The past year has had come very busy months for our help center.  The donations have grown to the place that our mission can no longer house the materials.  Pastor Vasconcelos has negotiated with the Wilson County Community Help Center so that we are now taking all donations to them. In this way, all the community including the Hispanic community, will be able to get help in this way. Over the past year, we have received several donations including clothes, furniture, appliances, toys and personal items. Please pray for the help center as we find those families in our area that have the greatest need for these items.

HISPANIC SOCCER OUTREACH

On April 28, we had a soccer clinic and revival meeting in Springfield, Tennessee.  11 people were saved there.  We had a second soccer clinic on Saturday, May 12. It was sponsored by the Tennessee Baptist Convention and took place in Lenoir City.  There were around 300 people participating. There were 5 decisions for Christ at this clinic.
